Sharing information about food fortification with potential investors

Communicating opportunities for investment
This work was designed to explore whether we could develop better communication materials - specifically for communication with investors.
The global LSFF community is full of technical expertise - food scientists, mill operators, public health professionals, quality assurance managers, regulatory experts - but sometimes we don't do the best job of communicating the incredible impacts of food fortification, and the opportunities. The tone of these materials is designed for accessibility. We wanted any type of investor (from a bilateral donor to a family office) to get engaged - especially those who are not familiar with large-scale food fortification.
Throughout, we depended on advisors from top LSFF organizations globally (see below) for review and feedback. But the work was heavily dependent on many in-country stakeholder interviews and detailed reviews of the content. These included Tanzanian country offices of NGOs, senior leaders in the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Tanzanian Bureau of Standards, as well as private sector operators.
There are three pieces to this work:
First, you can download the high-level introductory 'pitch' deck - useful for opening conversations with investors who may not be familiar with food fortification
Second, this website is all about information from our 2026 Tanzania Case Study - a mapping of Tanzania's food fortification landscape
Lastly, learning from great questions and some furrowed brows, we decided to compile a list of lessons learned about communicating LSFF
This project was funded by the Gates Foundation. Content is from published reports, expert interviews and information from the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania.
